Work experience
We
understand that making career decisions can be daunting, no matter how much
good advice you get from family, friends, career advisors and teachers.
Chartered Accounting can be a very rewarding career and we would like to
help Year 10 and 11 students get a glimpse of the possibilities through our
Work Experience program.
Our program
We have been very encouraged by the feedback received from both students and
school career advisors about our program. We run it over 5 days and you will
get experience on real projects under the guidance of qualified Chartered
Accountants. You can be certain that we will not shut you away in a back
room doing photocopying or archiving of dusty old files for the week (but
there might be a bit of that too).
Our Work Experience program starts with you being introduced around the firm
so that people know who you are so that they can assist you during your
stay. You will then spend time in several of our teams including Taxation,
Audit, Business Services and Administration. You will meet with managers and
senior accountants alike. They will supervise you on real projects that will
give you a taste of what Chartered Accounting holds in store.
Working with your school
We will liaise with your school’s Careers Advisor to ensure that your week
with Saward Dawson is what they would require it to be. At the end of the
week, we will sit with you to discuss your time here. We welcome your
comments so that we might be able to improve the program for students in the
following year.
We hope that, by the end of your time with us, you will decide that
Chartered Accounting is the career that you would like to pursue.
