New Government - A new Budget

The first Budget announced in May by the Treasurer, Mr Wayne Swan, had been anticipated for some time and there was considerable speculation (and strategic pre-announcements) as to what it might contain. There were few surprises and we bring you an article on the main contents as they apply to many of our clients. In a separate article, we discuss the implications of dropping your private health insurance with the formal announcement of new Medicare thresholds.

Informed online

Many of our clients and friends choose to receive this newsletter online, rather than getting this paper version in the mail. The online version often has additional articles and is available earlier than its printed counterpart.

If you have access to the internet, it is something we would like to encourage. (It will also make a small contribution to reducing paper usage.) If you would like to only receive the online version just click here.

Around the firm

Our recent Investment Market Update seminar with Brian Long from the respected research company Van Eyk was a great success. Brian discussed the reasons why share markets had boomed for such a long time and why we should expect changing fundamentals in the future. We received many favourable comments about the seminar and these half yearly investment updates should not be missed.

Pam Kaur commenced in our Audit team after several years with another Chartered firm and prior to that, running her own business. She brings a rich mix of experience and maturity and has thoroughly enjoyed her first couple of months meeting our clients.

Stephanie Bal has recently started in our Admin team.
